Microsoft opened a new Xbox PC app preview to Xbox Insiders on November 5, 2026. The company says it speeds up loading and brings changes to the library, search and social tools.
The PC release starts with testers, while Microsoft plans to expand its refreshed cloud gaming website over the following weeks. It also says the new look is starting to reach cloud apps on supported TVs and virtual reality headsets.
Xbox PC app gets speed and navigation changes
Microsoft says its internal tests found app launches up to 60% faster. Home, Store and Game Pass pages loaded up to 50% faster, while windows within the app loaded up to 65% faster. These are company figures, and Microsoft says results vary with the device, connection and system setup.
According to Microsoft, new library filters help players sort games, and friends and social tools move into the main navigation. Search covers games, add-ons and people.
Pure Xbox, which received a preview from Microsoft, says the update will also reach Windows handhelds with improved controller support. The outlet says Xbox explained that the redesign should make it easier to add features later. Its account describes a preview, rather than an independent test of the speed claims.
Cloud rollout follows months of public testing
Microsoft first opened the new cloud gaming web interface for public testing on January 26, 2026. That preview sought player feedback on navigation, layout and how people moved through the service.
Microsoft says the refreshed web library combines cloud-playable games players own with Game Pass titles. Desktop mode makes more use of larger screens. Players can choose light or dark themes, plus five high-contrast options.
The changes follow a broader pledge from Xbox leaders on April 23, 2026, to fix core parts of the service. In that message, they said the PC presence was not strong enough and described search, discovery and social tools as fragmented.
Pure Xbox says it was told the Xbox PC app update should reach all users soon if Insider testing goes well. That remains a conditional plan, with no firm release date in the announcement.
