GOG physical games remain an idea rather than a service ready to launch, according to a GamesRadar+ interview. GOG manager Marcin Paczynski said he hoped customers could one day order physical copies of games from their digital libraries.
Paczynski, the company’s senior business development and partnerships manager, said staff had discussed the idea for years. However, storage, shipping and further permission from publishers remain hurdles.
What stands between GOG physical games and delivery
Paczynski said handling physical goods would differ from GOG’s current work selling digital games. He hoped the idea could become real. However, he gave no launch date, prices or list of games.
The interview also leaves the storage format open. It does not say whether future copies would use discs or another format. The idea therefore does not amount to a confirmed range of GOG CDs or DVDs.
Printable boxes are already available
Meanwhile, a September 8, 2026 GOG announcement describes a smaller step toward preserving old game boxes. GOG added interactive scans of the original boxes for five games. Customers can also download artwork to print, cut, fold and build their own boxes.
GOG named Star Trek: 25th Anniversary, Armikrog, Descent, Hitman: Codename 47 and Myst. It said it made the materials with Big Box Collection. Customers can access them after buying the games.
GOG says its Preservation Program aims to keep selected classic games working on modern systems. The box project also preserves part of how those games originally reached players. However, customers must build the boxes themselves.
In the GamesRadar+ interview, Paczynski said GOG was taking small steps toward physical releases. It still needed to resolve publisher permissions and how to handle physical goods.
