Assassin’s Creed Valhalla update adds gear upgrades

Ubisoft released the free Assassin’s Creed Valhalla New Game+ update on November 5, 2026, for PlayStation, Xbox and PC. The publisher says players can restart Assassin’s Creed Valhalla with their progress carried over.

The update gives returning players more ways to strengthen their gear, Ubisoft says. It also adds a storage stash and visual upgrades for PlayStation 5 Pro.

How to unlock Valhalla New Game+

According to Ubisoft’s patch notes, New Game+ unlocks after the Holy Day quest in the Hamtunscire region. Players do not need to reach the game’s true ending first. Each new run grows harder.

Ubisoft says repeat gear rewards and books of knowledge yield Mithril during New Game+. This new resource also appears in the Niflheim, Mastery and River Raid shops. Divine gear can now reach upgrade level 27, up from 13, with the extra upgrades requiring Mithril.

In its Xbox Wire guide, Ubisoft says Wealth Chests give Platinum instead of Carbon, Nickel or Tungsten during New Game+. The publisher’s launch overview says players can now upgrade gear to Divine quality without owning the Dawn of Ragnarok expansion.

More rune choices and a storage stash

Ubisoft’s Xbox Wire interview says the progression and gear changes also work outside New Game+. Lead game designer David Larouche said the team wanted players to keep improving their characters rather than simply repeat the same journey.

The optional progression mode lets gear upgrades, runes and masteries contribute to overall Power, Ubisoft says. In addition, a new stash in Ravensthorpe stores gear and runes outside the player’s inventory.

According to Ubisoft’s launch overview, the Rune Forge now upgrades runes for silver. Reaching the new Superior tier instead costs Mithril. More than 300 added engravable runes let players transfer acquired weapon or armor-set perks into different equipment builds.

PS5 Pro graphics and download sizes

Meanwhile, in Ubisoft’s PlayStation Blog interview, engineering studio manager Priscilla Nguyen says upgraded PSSR improves image sharpness and stability. The upscaling technology lets the PS5 Pro version run Quality mode at 60 frames per second, she says. Ubisoft says the work improves 4K image quality without replacing the game’s visual assets.

Ubisoft’s patch notes list the following download sizes for Title Update 1.8.0. Players on different platforms will need different amounts of data.

The Valhalla New Game+ update also adds a free Master Assassin Naoe outfit and two achievements, Ubisoft says. The update is available on PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One and PC through Ubisoft Connect, Steam and the Epic Games Store, the publisher says.
